A man in Taiwan used a camera-equipped robotic vacuum cleaner to record his wife's infidelity and subsequently faced legal proceedings. The man discovered his wife's affair in September 2023 after finding belongings of another man in his home. He then reviewed security camera records and began to suspect his wife's infidelity. On December 24th, he remotely activated the vacuum cleaner robot through a mobile phone application and secretly turned on its recording system to gather evidence.

Using the recorded footage as evidence, he demanded TWD 2 million in compensation from his wife and the other man involved, and filed a lawsuit. The district court ordered them to pay TWD 500,000 in joint compensation. However, his wife was dissatisfied with the unauthorized indoor recording and filed a counter-lawsuit.

The Taoyuan District Court ruled that although the couple was married, there was no violation of each individual's right to privacy and personal freedom. The court convicted the man of illegal recording and sentenced him to 5 months imprisonment.
