The partnership between Apple and Google is accelerating, and Google has confirmed that an advanced Siri powered by Gemini AI technology will be unveiled in 2026.
Thomas Kurian, CEO of Google Cloud, stated that Apple is their primary partner and is creating a more capable and personalized Siri leveraging Gemini's capabilities. The enhanced new Siri is set to be officially introduced at WWDC 2026, which will take place in June.
This new Siri will no longer be limited to just receiving commands—it will have the ability to understand context, knowing what's happening on the phone screen.
Since it can look at information within apps and respond in ways that match the situation, Apple is estimated to pay Google approximately $1 billion per year. While this is a significant cost for Apple, it represents one of the best strategies to keep pace with competitors in the AI landscape.
Apple will not compromise on user privacy either. Although utilizing Google's technology, user data will remain securely stored on Apple's own servers.
Furthermore, because Apple is adapting Gemini's large-scale technology into a smaller model that can run directly on iPhones, Siri will become a faster, more advanced, and more personal assistant than before.
