X has shut down Grok AI's ability to generate deepfake images of real people — simply by typing commands like "put her in a bikini" or "remove the clothes" — following massive global criticism and a threat from California's attorney general to pursue legal action, calling it "horrifying sexual exploitation." What has changed: No More Nudes: Grok AI can no longer be used to depict real people in bikinis, underwear, or other revealing outfits, or to remove their existing clothing. Geoblock: In countries and regions where such image generation is illegal, Grok's image generation capability will now be geographically restricted. Paid Only: Image generation and editing features are now restricted to paid subscribers only — no longer available for free. How bad did it get? An audit by AI Forensics found that of over 20,000 images generated by Grok, more than half were sexually revealing images of women — including images of minors. As a result, Indonesia and Malaysia banned Grok entirely within their borders, while EU and UK regulators are keeping a close watch on X. X's safety team stated, "We've put in place technical barriers," attempting to contain the fallout. Ref: Bangkokpost
