Meta's personal agent app Muse, which was introduced on September 8, has garnered 2.8 million downloads within its first two weeks of launch, according to statistics from market research firm Sensor Tower. Unlike typical AI chatbots, Muse is designed to perform real-world tasks on behalf of users, including sending emails, pre-booking travel itineraries, filling out forms, and making online purchases.
Additionally, Muse has surpassed ChatGPT to become the most downloaded free app on Apple App Store and Google Play in the United States and Canada. According to research by Apptopia, within 12 days of launch, Muse achieved 1.8 million downloads on iOS alone, exceeding ChatGPT's 1.3 million. However, since ChatGPT maintains a larger global user base, these figures do not represent a direct comparison of global total user counts.
To protect user data security, Meta operates Muse within a dedicated Muse Secure VM system, and the app will request user consent before performing critical actions such as sending emails or making purchases. Additionally, Meta has announced plans to expand Muse beyond smartphones to their AI glasses.
