Iran has officially threatened to target well-known American tech companies operating in the Middle East in retaliation for US and Israeli military operations. The target list released on Tuesday includes tech giants like Amazon, Microsoft, Palantir, and Oracle, marking an escalation of the conflict into technology infrastructure.
This is not just a verbal threat — real actions have already taken place. Earlier in the week, Iranian drones attacked Amazon's data centers in the UAE and Bahrain. The attacks caused physical damage and power outages, forcing Amazon to urgently coordinate with local authorities for employee safety.
Cyber warfare has also intensified. On Wednesday, a major cyberattack severely disrupted Stryker — a US medical technology company — through its Microsoft network. Security experts Brian Krebs and Chris Krebs confirmed the attack was carried out by Handala, a cyber attack group directly linked to Iranian intelligence.
White House spokesperson Anna Kelly responded on Thursday, saying the US is fully prepared and has successfully blocked 90% of Iranian attacks. Nevertheless, due to the overall situation, tech giants including Amazon, Google, Snap, and Nvidia are now urgently implementing emergency security measures for their thousands of employees in the Middle East.
