The Ukrainian military is using the renowned video game Grand Theft Auto V (GTA V) as a simulator to train FPV drone pilots.

This innovative approach was developed by WeTrueGun, a Ukrainian training organization, and has been modified so that within the game's expansive environment, it replicates the flight patterns of actual drones.

Soldiers are not playing the game with keyboards, but rather training using professional controllers like the Radiomaster TX16S MK3, which are used to operate real drones.

Through this system, pilots can customize their training to practice finding routes in large maps, tracking targets, maneuvering through obstacles, and also test thermal vision systems.

Officials say this is a cost-effective and efficient supplementary training tool, but note that it cannot fully replace the actual flight operations that occur on real battlefields.
