Google's Gemini AI assistant could soon take the hassle out of eSIM setup, according to a new APK teardown by Android Authority. The teardown uncovered a connector in development that allows Gemini to initiate the eSIM installation process directly from simple user prompts.
Setting up an eSIM traditionally requires scanning a QR code, retrieving activation codes from carrier apps, and navigating multiple settings menus—a process many users find confusing or time-consuming. This new Gemini connector aims to simplify that experience by letting users trigger the setup with just a voice command or text instruction, cutting out several manual steps.
The feature currently appears to be in early development, and Google has not announced an official rollout timeline. Since APK teardowns reveal code that isn't always guaranteed to ship, the feature's final form and availability may still change before a public release.
For Myanmar's expanding base of Gemini and smartphone users, this kind of AI-driven automation could make eSIM adoption noticeably easier. As more devices move toward eSIM-only designs, having an AI assistant handle the technical setup could remove a significant barrier for everyday users looking to activate a new line without digging through settings menus.
