Google is reportedly working on an offline mode for Gemini Live, its AI voice assistant, that would allow users to interact with it without an active internet connection. Currently, Gemini Live requires a stable internet connection to function, powering real-time voice conversations and quick responses.
According to Android Authority, code references for an offline mode have been discovered within the Gemini app, suggesting the feature is in active development. However, it remains unclear whether the offline version will match the speed and accuracy of the standard online mode, since running AI models directly on-device typically comes with performance trade-offs.
This development could be particularly valuable for users in regions like Myanmar, where internet connectivity can often be unstable or inconsistent. Having offline access would mean users could continue interacting with Gemini Live even in areas with poor signal or during data shortages.
Google has not yet announced an official release date for this offline capability. As AI assistants become increasingly integrated into daily smartphone use, offline functionality could mark a significant step toward making these tools more reliable and accessible worldwide.
