The newly launched iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max in Burgundy color are experiencing paint chipping issues. This is a recurring problem, as the iPhone 17 Pro series faced similar durability concerns with its Cosmic Orange finish, and users are now encountering comparable issues with the new color variant.

One user reported that after just two weeks of normal handling without a protective case, the iPhone 18 Pro Max exhibited color fading and chipping along the edges. Apple's decision to replace Titanium with a softer Aluminum chassis to improve thermal management is believed to be the cause of these paint durability issues, making the device susceptible to scratches, friction damage, and impact damage.

Many users are dissatisfied that such an expensive device loses its finish with mere casual handling without a protective case. While some argue that a case should be used, numerous users criticize Apple for not ensuring that a premium flagship phone can be used case-free as intended by its design.
