The anxious days for TikTok fans are over. Just before TikTok's deadline for a US ban, the company reached a deal with American investors. Under the agreement, original owner ByteDance retains only a 20% stake. The remaining 80% has passed into the hands of American companies including Oracle, Silver Lake, and MGX. In short, TikTok is now very much American. Concerns about the security of American users' data will be handled by Oracle, which takes a leading role in the deal. Both data and algorithms will be housed on American servers, with content moderation also overseen domestically — making it a reassuringly secure arrangement. More good news: the deal also covers popular apps CapCut and Lemon8, so users of those platforms don't need to worry either. With a majority of Americans on the new seven-member board — including TikTok's CEO — TikTok's future on American soil looks secure. Ref: gsmarena
