Chinese automotive giant BYD has stepped into the robotics technology sector, unveiling its first humanoid robot called Xiao Di at the Di Space Experience Center in Changzhou, China. The robot stands 5.2 feet tall, weighs 129 pounds, and features up to 31 joints that enable natural, human-like movements.

Xiao Di was specifically designed to provide customer service, capable of warmly greeting visitors and providing detailed explanations of BYD's advanced vehicle features. What's particularly impressive is its 360-degree field of vision, ability to recognize facial expressions and hand gestures, and its capacity to simultaneously interpret six Chinese regional dialects and six foreign languages in real-time.

Looking ahead, BYD plans to deploy two to three units of this robot at each of its car dealerships and is currently testing applications in shopping malls and warehouses. With the successful development of this humanoid robot, BYD will now compete with companies like Tesla and XPeng.
