Meta company is going to provide free Ray-Ban Meta AI smart glasses worth substantial value to over 130,000 visually impaired former U.S. military veterans. This initiative aims to enable former military veterans to live independently in their daily lives with confidence.
These AI smart glasses include cameras and voice-controlled systems that can perform text reading, object recognition, and environmental description. Additionally, since the installed AI can answer questions about what the wearer sees, it will be possible to carry out daily tasks easily.
This initiative was started based on the experience of American former military veteran Don Overton, who lost his vision during the Pacific War. After receiving these glasses, he was able to do work that he had been unable to do for many years. Former military veterans will receive these glasses free of charge, and through the Blinded Veterans Association and other support organizations, they will continue to receive training on how to use and necessary assistance.
