Technology world's top figure Elon Musk's SpaceX company has made a surprising application to the American Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to deploy up to one million satellites to power artificial intelligence (AI) systems from space.

Since building data centers on Earth requires large amounts of electricity, land space, and cooling water, SpaceX is preparing to construct solar-powered space-based data centers in orbit and operate AI systems more efficiently and rapidly.

This mega project will significantly expand the Starlink network, which currently has nearly ten thousand satellites, and plans to begin launching large Starship rockets around 2028 to deploy satellites between 500 and 2,000 kilometers above Earth's surface.

SpaceX's objective is not only to provide enormous computing power to billions of users worldwide, but also to lead humanity toward a "Kardashev Type II" advanced civilization capable of fully harnessing the sun's total energy.

However, scientists are concerned about the plan to massively launch satellites into space. They warn that such a massive satellite constellation could increase congestion in space and significantly disrupt astronomers' space research operations.

Elon Musk has rejected criticisms about space congestion and is preparing to move forward with his space AI dream.
